In order for the Network to further assess and support the development of More-Electric-Airplanes, we will be inviting aviation experts from all areas of the industry to submit papers in support of the 1St IET Aerospace Network International Conference on All Electric Aircraft. We are planning to hold the event at our prestigious Savoy Place building in late January 2016 and will bring together experts from the world of Academia, Industry and Business Leaders, to meet, publish results and share knowledge on the current advancements in More-Electric-Airplane technologies.”

The Vision for the More/All-Electric-Airplane is to take advantage of the emerging technologies in alternative propulsion, advanced power generation and distribution, power electronics, energy storage, advanced materials and thermal management, with a goal of achieving:

  • Improve Power System Efficiency

  • Improve Weight/Volume

  • Reduce Total Cost

  • Enhance Safety

  • Improve Thermal Efficiency

  • Improve Reliability

  • Improve Maintainability

  • Increase Functionality

  • Cost Effective Rapid Technological Insertion

  • Green Systems

We are aiming to launch our Call for Papers in May.  I’d welcome your thoughts on this event i.e. whether this would be of interest to you as a delegate or a potential contributor and look forward to your comments below.

Vice Chairman, IET Aerospace Network

  • This was an excellent technical event, with a wealth of in-depth quality material around the prospects of moving forward towards all-electric aircraft in the near future. For myself a key development theme perhaps would be a vision around a first commercial aviation role i.e a machine to carry fare-paying passengers or freight, rather than just a pilot training role. Perhaps worth further thought around a timescale and a demonstrator mission in that vein, which could assist in driving the enabling technologies?.
