Can you help our Education partner?
Fun Kids are looking for young engineers to help with their Audio and Animated Programmes activity. Read more about Fun Kids and their Programmes in the post below and get in touch with them directly if you’d like to help.
Fun Kids is the UK’s multi-media brand that puts children in the driving seat, helping them think, create and play. An award winning children's radio station and a leading children’s podcast and animations producer, Fun Kids engages with over 2m children and parents each month across the UK through our radio stations, podcast network, YouTube channels and online at www.funkidslive.com.
Fun Kids has been awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Ingenious grant to help children learn about the challenges the world faces with clean water and sanitation and explore how we can engineer clean, sustainable water systems in an age of climate disruption, and discover the opportunities that engineering offers everyone, irrespective of their backgrounds.
Through the project, Fun Kids will be creating and hosting:
- A series of 12 Audio and Animated Programmes to introduce children to the key issues and how engineering can help – supply, waste and grey water, the embedded cost of water in our everyday objects, climate change and urbanisation issues, smart technology and engineering to reduce demand.
- A series of Live Events where children will be able to get hands on experience of water engineering and meet engineers, finding out what they do and what inspired them to become engineers, and be encouraged to Engineer a Design.
- 'Engage through Podcast' workshops to help engineers learn and practise skills to become better public engagers through podcasts and to create ‘Inspiring Engineering’ podcasts. Through tailored workshops, we will teach them how to discuss engineering to different audiences, how to research and record, edit and publish a podcast.
Fun Kids is looking for 20 young engineers to become knowledge partners to help Fun Kids create the Audio and Animated Programmes, and learn about public engagement through podcasts.
In 5 one hour-long online group workshops, at times to suit you, Fun Kids will do all the preparation to get you studio ready, focusing on content and audience. Then in a day workshop at the Fun Kids studios you will make your podcast, learn editing skills and presentation techniques and some marketing tips too.
Whether you want to step-up your public engagement skills and creating any content for an audience, are interested in making a podcast for work or hobby purposes, or you want to understand more about podcasting, then these workshops are for you.
