Someone who is no stranger to this is Disabled Adventurer and speaker, Nick Wilson, and we're delighted to invite our Members, Volunteers and Colleagues to attend a virtual talk where he'll be sharing details of his own adventures, as well as where inclusive engineering is heading, and what's holding back progress.

There's a revolution happening in the outdoors and most people don't know it exists yet. Advances in powerchair technology and off-road engineering are slowly dismantling one of the last great barriers facing disabled people: the right to go anywhere, on any terrain, under their own power. But there is one big problem.
I'm Nick Wilson, a disabled war veteran, all-terrain chair adventurer, and the first wheelchair user to achieve a solo ascent of Yr Wyddfa, supported by IET, in an all-terrain powerchair prototype.
I'll take you inside an emerging sector at the intersection of EV technology and mobility engineering, show how I'm using all-terrain expeditions as real-world testbeds, and why chronic underinvestment remains one of the single biggest barriers keeping disabled people indoors, and stunting the growth of a sector that can transform lives at scale and revolutionise the outdoor world.
This isn't just about wheelchairs. It's about what engineering can do when it turns its full attention to inclusion, and what we're all losing when it doesn't.
