At the end of January, we were fortunate enough to have Arup sponsor a Present Around the World information session at Loyola Marymount University where we were able to give advice and guidance to potential competitors for our event on the 26th March. If you (or anybody you know) is aged 18-30 and fancy your chances at winning an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto for being able to give a ten-minute technical presentation and answer questions on it for five minutes, please get in touch with Richard Tregaskes.

While we were there we were also able to let the students know about our next event, a tour of WET Design at 1pm on the 10th March, more details and registration is available in the upcoming events block. If you have seen the fountains at Bellagio, the Mirage Volcano, The Dubai Fountain, or the 2002 and 2014 Winter Olympics you will have seen some of their work choreographing fire water and music. At the request of WET Design we will be reserving a number of places for our younger members and potential members. WET Design recruiters will be available to talk to those younger members who bring their resumes along.

On the subject of getting the younger generation interested in careers in STEM, we have two Sphero SPRK edition robots to donate to Southern California schools. While the committee members know several schools we could donate to we are looking for your suggestions as to where these might be appreciated especially if the schools is open to building an ongoing relationship with the IET.
