The objective of this event was to get the participants to be exposed to (i) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) deployment of the National Grid Power Transmission Network in Malaysia and (ii) the benefits of joining a professional engineering body - IET. Ir. Jimmy Fam who is the speaker of the day started the first talk by explaining the meaning of each terms of the terminology of SCADA and then proceeded with explaining the participants the whole power transmission network from power stations to consumers. He also introduced the machines and technologies involved in ensuring the continuous smooth operation of the network across the whole of Malaysia.

The first talk started on 9.30am to 11.15am focusing on the architecture deployment of SCADA in Malaysia’s National Grid Power Transmission Network 132KV-500KV.


The second talk started on 2.30pm to 3.30pm focusing on the benefits of joining IET and the ways and methods to acquire a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Professional Engineer (Ir).


A token of appreciation sponsored by our university is given to Ir. Jimmy Fam.


Overall, it is a successful event as the participants gained a deeper understanding and knowledge of both SCADA Architecture and the IET.
