We are excited to share that the IET's Futures Fund is once again taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funding campaign. For one week (2–9 December 2025), donations made to participating charities are doubled—thanks to match funding from supporters and partners. We found it to be a powerful way to boost support for our flagship educational programme FIRST® LEGO® League - a global STEM programme that inspires young people through hands-on robotics and engineering challenges using LEGO® kits. Teams build and program LEGO® robots to solve real-world problems, developing skills in teamwork, creativity, and STEM—all while having fun. It’s a brilliant way to spark a lifelong interest in science and engineering, especially for underrepresented groups like girls in STEM.

Last year, thanks to matched giving, we raised over £8,500 for our FIRST® LEGO® League programme — enabling around 130 children to participate across both our Challenge (ages 9–16) and Explore (ages 6–9) FIRST® LEGO® League divisions.

This year, we’d love to invite any of our supporters to consider making a pledge as part of the campaign.

What’s a pledge?

A pledge is a promise of funding that forms part of the match pot for online donations in December. By becoming a Pledger you are committing to provide match funds. These funds will be used to double donations made to the charity during the campaign. It’s not paid until after the campaign ends (9 December 2025), but it’s essential to help us unlock public donations during the campaign week in December this year.

A pledge could be worth up to four times its value to the IET and our mission to expand access to STEM education.

We’re aiming to raise £5,000 in pledges by 29 August 2025, and we’ve already secured £2,600. The minimum pledge amount is £100.

If interested, a pledge can be made using the form below:

If being a ‘pledger’ wasn’t something you wanted, even donating toward the main challenge between December 2nd – 9th (midday) 2025 would be of help.

Together, we can inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators—one LEGO® brick at a time.
