We are looking for some enthusiastic volunteers to take part as a Judge in our IET YP Hackathon!
What is the Hackathon?
The Hackathon is a LIVE 24 hour event in which 86 teams from around the world have signed up to take part in. It is an entirely virtual event taking place on 24-25/09/2022. Teams have chosen whether they would like to focus on Infrastructure or Software with their solution. They will be set a challenge in which they must come up with a solution to tackle the issue of ‘Dirty Data’ through carbon emissions.
This solution, within the Infrastructure stream, could develop the mechanical architecture of a clever cooling solution for data centres. Within the Software stream, teams could create user-friendly software that helps companies manage their data consumption or even code an application that raises awareness of dirty data among social media users.
What’s expected of the judges?
Judges will split across the Software and Infrastructure streams of the competition and will be given a document that explains the judging criteria the Hackathon Entries will be submitting against. Judges will be expected to watch and assess these entries by marking each solution a score out of 100.
What are the entries?
Hackathon teams will be submitting a 10-minute presentation video and a 2-page technical summary of their solution which Judges will be using to make their assessment.
The judging criteria is made up of a split of presentation skills and technical content. We ask for judges that are confident to judge in either both or one of these areas.
How much time will I need to volunteer?
Each judge will have of a maximum of 10 entries, which will take an estimate of 3 hours to complete judging.
The judging period will take place over 1 week, 26th September 2022 – 2nd October 2022.
You will also receive CPD hours for your time committed to judging in this competition.
