A technical visit to NP360 Cable car was successfully held on 15th October 2014. 17 participants, including The IET Students Sections committee and engineering students from different universities. Participants were brought to see the arrival and departure of the cars with detailed explanation of all the power, checking, and support systems. Many participants were amazed by how the system functions when there is actually no electrical power supplied to the individual car. Apart from gaining the engineering knowledge, the visit also provided a platform to let students know more The IET as well as other students from different universities.

IET Hong Kong Students Section (HKG) held a membership drive event in the University of Hong Kong at the beginning of an ENGG1111 (Computer programming and applications) lecture. It was begun with raising the students’ concerns about the future career. A promotion video was then played to give an introduction of the background of the IET, the tempting benefits for student membership and showing events held by IET SS (HKG).

Since 2011, the Students Section (Hong Kong) of the IET Hong Kong Younger Members Section has been organizing the Youth Mentoring Programme (YMP), which aims to provide a pathway for engineering students to get in touch with the engineering industry by face-to-face meeting with experienced mentors through the programme.
