The IET Kent Committee has planned an exciting Programme for 2014/15.  Our Programme Booklet will be delivered to all Kent Members very soon.  Details of our Programme also appear on this web page and include our regular Retired Members morning meetings at Bromley, plus a series of evening events.

We are pleased to be supporting the University of Kent 50th
Anniversary Celebrations with the first Jennison Lecture.  Professor Roger Jennison was a Fellow of the IET and the first Professor of Physical Electronics at the University in 1965.  Within a year he established the Electronics Laboratory (later Department of Electronics and now School of Engineering and Digital Arts) at the University.  The 2014 Jennison Lecture is being given by Rhys Phillips - a Research Engineer in the Lightning & Electrostatics Team at Airbus Group Innovations.  His talk is titled “Thunderbolts and Lightning - are they really Frightening?”

Also in October we are holding a talk in Maidstone on Powering the Future, given by Professor John Loughhead from the UK Energy Research Council.

A new addition to our Programme this year is a Family Christmas Lecture that we are running jointly with Kent & Medway STEM at Canterbury Christ Church University.  This is titled “Colours Tripping the Light Fantastic” and is being held in Canterbury on the 4th December at 6.00 p.m.  Like all our meetings, it is free to attend.  However, entry by ticket is required and these are going fast.  Therefore register your place and take all the family along.
