The results of the IET Northumbria 2018 inter-university students' projects competition.

The IET Northumbria 2018 Students' Projects Competition was this year held at Durham University on the Wednesday 14th March 2018 and was a great success. The competition which was between final-year engineering degree and masters students from the four local universities Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Durham comprised two categories i.e.  posters and live presentations.

The topics covered were varied, of a high standard, and presented the judges, Richard Burnard (Principal EC&I Engineer, Wood Plc.) and Nicholas Kasch (Research Scientist, Big Solar -Poweroll) with difficult choices.

In the end the First Prize of a £50 gift token and a certificate in the posters category was awarded to Alex Ashton of Durham University for his project  “Adaptive Emergency Escape Routing Using Intelligent Wireless Sensor Network”.

The First prize of a £50 gift token and a certificate in the presentations category was awarded to Joseph Birks of Sunderland University for the presentation of his project  “Robotic Manipulation of Fragile Objects using Tactile Manipulation”

All entrants received prize certificates for inclusion in their CVs.
