TAROS is the UK’s leading conference on Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS), which is aimed at the presentation and discussion of the latest results and methods in autonomous robotics research and applications worldwide. The conference welcomes senior researchers and research students alike, and invites paper submissions on different topics related to the principles and practice of robotics.
Dr Manuel Giuliani, Professor in Embedded Cognitive AI for Robotics at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL), University of the West of England, and General Chair of TAROS 2018 believes the conference is the perfect opportunity for research students and young research scientists to present their work to the scientific community.
“TAROS is the perfect venue for the robotics community to come together and exchange ideas. TAROS is also a student-friendly conference, so I would especially like to encourage PhD students to send their papers and to present new and exciting topics. The conference will be held in Bristol's Harbourside area, directly next to top restaurants and many bars and pubs. Bristol is a wonderful innovative city that invites creative thinking and provides the perfect backdrop to create new ideas for robotics research and to find the right partners to realise these ideas.”- Prof Manuel Giuliani

The conference will be held in the vibrant city centre of Bristol, a city awarded the European Green Capital 2015 and hometown of the world-famous graffiti artist Banksy. Bristol and the West of England region are also known as the home to excellent universities, world-leading companies and globally recognised clusters in Aerospace and Advanced Engineering, High Tech, Creative and Digital, and Low Carbon Technologies.

The West of England region is a natural place for innovators and investors, as states Prof Chris Melhuish, Director of the Bristol Robotics Laboratory and member of TAROS Steering Committee.
“The region has a powerful and vibrant economy, and a highly-skilled and innovative workforce. It is one of the most dynamic and economically productive regions in the UK and has one of the strongest knowledge based economies in Europe. The region has a vibrant and sizeable robotics community, boasting one of Europe’s largest robotics laboratories (Bristol Robotics Laboratory) and world-leading research, delivering innovative technologies across a wide range of industrial sectors that use robotic technologies. The West of England, renowned for its entrepreneurial energy, also has an active and dynamic robotics/high tech start-up/SME community, which is driving innovation, new product/service development and business growth in the burgeoning robotics sector.” – Prof Chris Melhuish.
TAROS 2018 proceedings will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence series. The submission deadline for long and short papers is the 2nd of February 2018.
We are looking forward to welcoming you all at TAROS in Bristol in July 2018!
