As 2025 draws to a close and our final activity has happened, it’s a great time to reflect on what has been an exciting year for the IET Robotics & Mechatronics Technical Network (TN). From thought-provoking webinars to lively community discussions and insightful blogs, the TN has delivered a strong lineup of content to engage with.
Digital First and Global Reach remit for our Technical Network
This year, we delivered a strong lineup of free-to-attend webinars, each exploring cutting-edge topics shaping the future of robotics. The online format allows us to engage with engineers across the world and share knowledge, provide CPD and build our global communities. Among the highlights:
- Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and AI Models for Contemporary Robotics Systems
This session delved into how GANs are influencing robotics innovation, from simulation to real-world applications. - Innovative Opportunities for the UK Robotics Sector
A deep dive into growth areas and strategic opportunities for the UK robotics industry, offering insights for businesses and researchers alike. - Interested in a Career in Robotics?
Aimed at young professionals, this webinar provided practical advice on breaking into the robotics field and building a rewarding career. - Future Trends in Robotics
A panel of experts shared their predictions on what’s hot in robotics, from autonomous systems to collaborative robots.
For those who missed these sessions, much of our content is available on-demand for CPD credit, so you can catch up anytime. Explore our webinars here.
Community Engagement and Thought Leadership
Beyond webinars, the TN has fostered vibrant discussions and published blogs that challenge and inspire. Some standout pieces include:
- A Robot Touch of AI: London Summer School in Robotics and AI 2025
A look at how education and hands-on learning are shaping the next generation of robotics professionals. - Grasping the Future: Robotics at the Heart of In-Orbit Servicing
Exploring the role of robotics in space applications and the exciting possibilities for in-orbit servicing. - From Hype to Utility: The Rise of Task-Specific Robots in 2025
How robotics is moving beyond general-purpose hype to deliver real-world solutions. - Reflections from ICRA 2025 and the 6th UK Robot Manipulation Workshop
Key takeaways from two major conferences that continue to influence the robotics landscape.
These blogs have sparked meaningful conversations within our community, and we encourage you to revisit them if you haven’t already.
