Asset management addresses a fundamental tension between corporate and societal interests. Businesses wish to maximise profits and society wishes to ensure safety and sustainability. In some cases, this leads to business innovation in asset management moving faster than societal oversight and on occasion this may lead to legislative compliance not addressing risks introduced by new asset management philosophies.
This event will examine emerging asset management approaches, and how they have addressed this mixture of innovation and compliance. One example will be the London Grenfell fire, and implications for the recent Victorian review of these claddings following the Melbourne Lacrosse building fire.
