
The International Conference on Railway Engineering (ICRE) is held every three years in Hong Kong with the objective to provide a forum for sharing knowledge and experience; promoting collaboration among practitioners; as well as revealing recent development and applications of new technologies in railway engineering.
The organiser, Railway and Transport Section of the IET Hong Kong is composed of engineering professionals from disciplines of electrical, electronics, industrial, mechanical and railway engineering. In this connection, the conference is a railway event of high regard in the industry.
The conference was held on 24 to 25 May 2017 at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong and was followed by a technical visit on 26 May 2017.
ICRE 2017 Theme
The theme for the 2017 event was “Engineering the future railway” and was arranged around three main topics:

The huge success of the past five ICRE held in Hong Kong and Belgium has proven to be the sought after event that had attracted delegates from a wide ranging disciplines and backgrounds.
IET Railway TPN Keynote and Support
This year the Railway TPN supported this event through not only marketing but by offering support in terms of a Keynote Speaker.

Mr George Clark, Engineering Director, Capital Programmes - London Underground, kindly stepped up as the Railway TPN keynote talking about Innovation Underground: Delivering a World Class System on Legacy Infrastructure. Mr Clark was also involved in another session entitled ‘Conversation between two Engineering Directors - Innovations in Railway’ with Dr Peter Ewen, Engineering Director, MTR Corporation.
ICRE 2018 - London
The Call for Papers is open until 23rd October 2017, so get your abstract in for the 8th ICRE being held in May 2018 at IET London: Savoy Place.
ICRE 2018 is the latest forum for new ideas and innovative thinking in rail, providing industry and academia with the opportunity to hear about the latest research and developments in railway engineering whilst offering the chance to discuss and debate the current and future challenges with members of the international railway community.
