Are you working or studying in Control & Automation?  Are you passionate about supporting the community?  Do you have 3-4 days per year that you can volunteer to attend committee meetings and organise activities?  We’d love to hear from you!

The IET Control & Automation Network is seeking professional engineers working in this field to join our Executive Team.  We’re trying to make the Executive Committee representative of as wide a cross-section of the Control and Automation community as we can, so we’d especially like to hear from people working in areas where we don’t have enough representation just now. We’d like to hear from people involved in manufacturing, power generation and distribution, water…… We need some good representation from the ‘Automation’ part of C&A and we need some people who know about the stuff outside the ‘clever boxes’ – the sensors and control elements. And, finally…we’re about to lose some very good academic members who are coming to the end of their terms of office – they’re a tough act to follow but we need some good academic help to keep up the standard.

What is the role of the Network?

The role of the Network is to provide a platform that enables the exchange of knowledge and information amongst the community through a variety of networking opportunities. This is done through a number of physical and on line activities which allow you to develop and extend your existing knowledge of engineering within the manufacturing sector, network with like-minded individuals and share knowledge and experiences with others.

What is expected of an Executive Team Member?

Executive Team members act as ambassadors for the Network and wider IET community. As part of the team we participate in various activities such as: engaging in physical and virtual Executive Team meetings to develop the Network's on-going strategy, source and deliver new content for the IET website with a particular focus on developing the MyCommunity forums to support professional engineering networking opportunities. You will have the opportunity to help develop the network to generate more discussion, interaction and engagement among its members both by participating online and in organising physical events.

How can you benefit?

Executive Team members benefit from extensive networking opportunities, training and professional development as well as the opportunity to promote your area of interest to a wider audience. We encourage you to apply for this unique chance to give something back to your community.
