Leading projects with real impact

One of the most rewarding aspects of joining the Young Professionals Committee is the opportunity to work on projects that create lasting change for young professionals across the IET. Over the years, YPC members have launched initiatives that have directly influenced member experiences, volunteering opportunities and professional development programmes.

Past projects have included creating the Young Professional Ambassador programme, developing a Volunteering Career Pathway to help members find meaningful volunteer opportunities, and conducting research into the Future of Membership, which helped shape new student and early-career member journeys within the IET. YPC members have also contributed to reviews of mentoring services, learning and development offerings, and initiatives to support innovation and entrepreneurship among young engineers and technicians.

The committee has also driven projects focused on increasing diversity and inclusion, strengthening engagement through digital communications and social media, expanding opportunities for young volunteers, and developing global initiatives such as the Global Challenge, which encourages young professionals to tackle real-world engineering problems. These examples demonstrate how YPC volunteers can influence both the strategic direction of the IET and the experiences of young professionals around the world

If you've ever wanted to help shape the young professional experience within the IET, this is your chance. We encourage applications from across our diverse global membership and look forward to welcoming new voices to the committee.
