The Healthcare Technologies network was proud to sponsor the London Critical Data Marathon which took place over the 6th and 7th September 2014 alongside parallel events in Paris, France and Massachusetts, USA.

The event ran over the course of the whole weekend and brought frontline healthcare providers and data scientists together to answer clinically-relevant questions.

The main focus of the event was for the participants to work with the MIMIC-II which is a large open access ICU database. It empowers those who have not typically engaged in research but who possess a deep understanding of the information gaps as well as the elements involved in practice, to contribute to and become part of a data-driven learning system.

The weekend provided an opportunity for the delegates to enjoy some interesting talks, learn about MIMIC-II, networked and to discuss some clinical questions.

The event was a great success with around 40 people attended the weekend, each with different backgrounds, skillsets and motivations and there are plans for the event to be held again in 2015.
