It was such a shock to hear Martin had passed away and a huge loss to the wider community and closer 'to home' for our Media Technical Network members who have worked with him for such a long time. Martin was always our radio and audio champion on the Committee but when I think of Martin the first memory that springs to mind was his response to VR popping up AGAIN as a topic at IBC around 2015/16 - he wasn't convinced that the technology was ready for mass consumer distribution and I'd say, as always, he was right. His work on the Best of IBC papers was also a major part of his contribution back to the profession. He will be greatly missed by all those who worked with him.
It's always sad to hear of the passing of a much loved and respected volunteer. As the Community Manager for the Multimedia Communications Network (nowadays Media TN) from around 2012 to 2015 I knew Martin well. My everlasting memory of him will be from the various IBC events I attended and especially when we first started interviewing exhibitors for their thoughts on our hot topic of the year. Martin was such a brilliant interviewer and we came away with a lot of video content for the MMC community. Martin's blog posts on our Community Insights blog were always a fascinating and engaging read too. I shall miss him greatly.
