On 7 December 2015, nearly 500, Year 11, 12 and 13 students attended a Maths Inspiration Event sponsored by the IET, I Mech E and ICE.  For two hours, in the West Road Cambridge Concert Hall, the students participated in maths puzzles, listened to maths and physics talks and learnt how to produce animated films using maths and computers.  The speakers were excellent and had the students fully engaged.  Hugh Hunt from the Cambridge University Engineering Department gave a fascinating expose of angular motion and gyroscopes getting students onto the stage to take part in experiments and demonstrations.  Matt Parker of Queen Mary College London with help from specially commissioned films of Aleksandr Orlov the Meerkat from Compare the Market adverts, showed how maths is used in animation.

Before and after the event, IET Cambridge and the Stevenage Education department spoke with many of the highly engaged students who thoroughly enjoyed the show and learnt about the IET.
