Here at the IET we are always looking to improve our current portfolio with course offerings which will benefit our members. Due to popular demand, the previous ‘Essentials of Management’ course has been revised and improved to create the new ‘Starting out in Management’ course.

This course has been designed to increase your awareness of management styles, team dynamics and individual needs; enabling you to become more confident in your approach. This course uses interactive exercises and practical activities to equip participants with the right tools to deploy in the workplace and would be a benefit for anybody who is new to, or is looking to improve their current management skills.

This one day course will cover areas such as:

•  The definition of a manager - what you may be expected to achieve

•  The different management styles and techniques and models – to compare what may work best for you
•  Management versus leadership – how to differentiate the two
•  Motivation
•  Delegation – when to use delegate correctly
•  Team dynamics – how to improve these

And, as if this was not enough, if you’re working toward professional registration, this course is aligned with UK-SPEC competence C. And remember, your attendance at this course could contribute up to 7 hours towards your Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

This course, which has been written and will be delivered by our internal professional skills trainer Louise Tythe, is taking place in London on the 27th of September 2017.
