This talk concentrated on the application of Civil Nuclear Power in the United Kingdom from the first commercial power plant  in Cumbria through to the  the new fleet of Nuclear Power plant being planned over the next 20 years.

The development of the current UK Nuclear power plant in terms of size, complexity and operational characteristics will be discussed for the Magnox, Advanced Gas Cooled Reactors and the Pressurised Water Reactors The impact of Fukushima will be discussed for both Operational and New Nuclear Power plant.



The talk concluded with a discussion of the Plans for new Nuclear power plant in the UK. This will look at the plans of the Utilities who will develop the plant and will describe the technologies which will be built in the UK over the next 20 years.  The talk will conclude by discussing some of the issues which still need to be resolved before any new Nuclear power plant construction can commence.
