Members of the local network executive discussed the potential for establishing a formal relationship with the UWIAATT on Wednesday 27th August.

The executive committee, of the UWI Alumni Association of Trinidad and Tobago chapter, was chaired by its president Mr. Cheridan Woodrfuffe and was interested in the key focal points highlighted by Mr. Anthony Chadee.  These areas included the partnership to market the 2015 PATWs to existing Alumni and new graduates of the University, networking and mentorship between both parties and seminars on professional registration as well as the benefits of having two IPRAs in Trinidad and Tobago.

The members of the Alumni chapter were delighted to note that Ms. Faheema Baksh, being a graduate of the University's engineering programme, won the Americas Regional Final and would be competing in the London Global finals in November.

An area of immediate interest, as highlightred by the Chair of the  Educational committee of the Alumni, Mr. Peter Poon-Chong (who is also the engineering faculty representative), was that of mentorship.  This was in light of the existing Alumni mentorship programme that pairs graduates with mentors.

Mr. Woodruffe noted that there is a need to understand the partnership process as this relationship may be extended to all of the chapters within the university alumni network and that the Trinidad and Tobago chapter would be the first to start.  Mr. Jerry Medford highlighted the importance to focus on special interest groups, as part of the synergies with the IET Local Network, and to develop a model that can be exported and to adapt to the each local country's alumni requirements.
