The seminar is the intitiative of both Jonathan and Jason as part of developing the engineers and technicians in their organisation.

In addition to the interested persons present, other BG personnel from around the world were able to benefit from the presentation and discussions using teleconferencing, which highlighted the international appeal of being professional registered as Chartered Engineer, Incorported Engineer, Chartered Manager, Engineering Technician, Chartered IT Professional and ICT Technician.

Gerald Mendes, one of the three local International Professional Registration Advisors (IPRAs) provided key insights into the requirments for the application process.

An introduction to the IET and the Trinidad and Tobago Local Network provided a strong link to the process of becoming registred as well as the benefits of being a member of the Institution.  Focus was placed on the importance of Continuous Professional Developments (CPDs), the various methods by which the IET aids in persons achieving them as well as the use of the IET's Career Manager to aid persons to track their progress.

Other benefits of being a member were clearly highlighted, such as the invaluable member benefits of IET Engineering & Technology magazines, access to IET journals and publications, informative videos and webinars through the IET.tv system and the support provided by the IET Connect.

There was strong interest in the activities and events in which persons could become involved.  Specific areas were highlighted based upon the Local Network's current involvement as the upcoming PATW Americas Regional Final, the STEAM launch and the IET Women's Network.
