Have you seen the Channel 4's genius bit of advertising for their new show "Humans" - it seems to have been freaking out a lot of people!   If you haven’t  yet seen it, take a look.

The IET Robotics & Mechatronics TPN will be presenting their annual Robot Ethics event.at the Science Museum Lates Session  on Wednesday 24 June.

The  presentation is entitled Robot Ethics: Personal Perspectives and we have a panel of 3 speakers:

Dr Kathleen Richardson - Senior Research Fellow in the Ethics of Robotics at the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility (CCSR), at De Montford University, Leicester.

Professor Alan Winfield - Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of the Science Communication Unit, UWE and Visiting Professor, University of York.

Professor Tony Prescott, Director of the Sheffield Centre for Robotics

The future promises us robot (driverless) cars, robots in the home, social care robots, robots for military use and robots with human traits. How do we ensure they are designed, used and operated within accepted ethical norms?

As robotics and robotic devices become ever more commonplace in our lives the questions arising from interactions between new machine and individual people, and society as a whole, are set to become increasingly complex.  The speakers will each present their personal view on the problems in ethics arising from the design, use, integration and eventually even within the “personality” of the robot.

All are welcome, so why not come along, learn more and have your say!  Stay on for the Museum Lates Session – for over 18s only though!
