We are delighted to share the presentation title and biography for, Dr Arvind Madan, who will be speaking at our upcoming The Future of Medicine event. Director of Primary Care. Dr Madan will be speaking on “Role of the Doctor in 2025”

Dr Arvind Madan was appointed as Director of Primary Care for NHS England in December 2015. His early focus is on addressing some of the significant challenges general practice faces, and how the service can be supported to deliver the 5-year Forward View. This will require exploring the areas of financial sustainability, recruitment, workload, organisational forms, quality of care and morale. His plan is to develop a more meaningful relationship between NHS England and the profession, bring frontline insight into decision-making and contribute to the development of a stronger version of general practice for the future.

Previously he has been a GP Partner in the Hurley Group for 20 years. The Group comprises 13 London GP Practices caring for 100,000 registered patients and 5 urgent care services. It also operates 111 and GP Out of Hours services. These services are all focused in some of London’s most deprived communities. He also led on the development of technology that can be used to improve patient access, health outcomes and practice efficiency.

He is a member of the Kings Fund Advisory Board and has helped set up a Community Interest Company known as Healthy Minds, which runs peer mediation for children in 30 London schools.
