The Institute of Engineering and Technology, Malaysia Local Network (IET) has successfully organised a Technical Talk on Big Data Analytics and SMEs at Symphony Suites Hotel, 41 Lapangan Symphony Business park, Jalan Lapangan Symphoney, 31350 Ipoh, Perak on Thursday, 21st April 2018.
We are pleased to record the total Attendance of 18 pax consist of 5 IET members and 13 non-members. Present are our Committee Member Ir. Chan Cheong Loong as the moderator for this event.
The Speaker for the event is Dr. Tan Su Wei who is a Principal Consultant at Iconix Consulting Sdn Bhd. Dr. Tan has more than ten years of teaching and research experience in the area of telecommunications. His research interest is in the general field of data analytics, data communications and wireless networking, in which he specializes in algorithm and protocol design for various resource allocation problems such as traffic engineering, multicasting and Quality of Service (QoS).
His talk on ‘Big Data Analytics and SMEs’ is on how to apply “big data” which suggests the data of sizes from terabytes, petabytes or even larger, and requires sophisticated analytics tools and extensive computing resources to a small or medium-sized business with limited resources. This talk touches on various aspects of big and small data analytics, focusing on the data science process, and explore its applications to SMEs.
