Friday, 20th April 2018, Bandar Seri Begawan.  The Instituition of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Darussalam Local Network yesterday held a technical visit to the Engineering Department, Royal Brunei Airlines Sdn. Bhd.

 
The objectives of the visit was to understand and learn firsthand the organisation of the RB Engineering Department, its functions, challenges faced and how it goes about in achieving its mission and objectives. Around 20 participants from Brunei’s Science, Engineering and technology community took part and heard the opening remarks and briefing from Tuan Rosli.  There was also an opportunity for a walk around to the various engineering sections.

 
On interview with some of the participants who participated in the visit expressed 1) gratitude to RBA in allowing for the visit 2) great educational exposure 3) better understanding of the safety and technical aspects of the aircraft.

 
Technical visits like this represents one of IET’s main yearly activities towards the achievement this objective. 

 
The IET Brunei Darussalam is a branch of the Institution of Engineering and Technology or IET in the United Kingdom, in which it was inaugurated on 29 November 1997 as the Institution of Electrical Engineers or IEE (IET Brunei’s former name).  Today, the IET is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the science, engineering and technology community. It was formed in 2006 by amalgamating The IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers) and The IIE (Institution of Incorporated Engineers) together. 

 
The IET today has more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. Being part of this professional network, IET Brunei Darussalam sets its vision in sharing and advancing knowledge throughout the global Science, Engineering and Technology community contributing towards national development.
