As the former Head of Research and Insight at the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) and now working at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) within our Local Networks, I have spent my career tracking how disruption shapes industry. Engineers and workplace managers must look at data points—like occupancy rates, energy usage, and workflow bottlenecks—to build spaces that adapt to changing business demands. This integration of behavioural science, data analysis, and technical engineering turns simple infrastructure into a major driver of corporate performance.
