Its been an excellent year for the Network, especially in relation to gathering content from various events/conferences.

Here’s what they managed to achieve in 2015:

  • SatCom Course – organised and delivered by the Events Production & Services team

  • Filmed some short videos at QinetiQ Farnborough:

What happens in a human centrifuge?    How are thrusters used in space?

The ExoMars Rovers journey to find life on Mars - from the clean room to space

At the time of uploading this blog it was only possible to link to the first video but we will post up the links to the other videos as soon as possible.

For the first half of 2016 they are developing:

  • Rosetta Spacecraft Seminar in Manchester –further information coming soon

  • European Data Relay Station – evening seminar and visit at Harwell – further information to be uploaded soon

  • Secured Satellite Navigation Colloquium joint with the Royal Institution of Navigation

Next year they are looking to develop enhanced partnerships with the GVF, TechUK, Space Division of the Knowledge Transfer Network.  They will also be planning their programme of activities for 2016-17 and plan to link up again with the Space Agency at the UK Space Conference 2017.

The Network are keen to develop interaction with universities that offer satellite related courses, so as to understand what type of activities they should be looking to organise so as to engage with academia.  They would especially like to hear from any academic who would be interested in joining their Executive team and Technical Advisory Panel.   If you are interested please contact Deborah-Claire McKenzie.

On behalf of the Satellite Systems & Applications TPN I would like to wish you all the best for the New Year and hope that you will continue to give your support to the volunteers who dedicate their time in organising this programme by coming along to an activity in 2016 or watching some of the content they’ve recorded at events etc.
