Tim is the first Briton to fly to space under the flag of the European Space Agency (Esa), and has more than 3,000 flight hours on various types of aircraft. With him in the Soyuz capsule is American Tim Kopra and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko.

A few months ago the IET Satellite Systems & Applications Network filmed some short videos at QinetiQ Farnborough which relate to space travel and will be of interest to members of the community.
