Exec member, Lim Yew Kee, was invited by Ir. Associate Prof Dr. Jimmy Mok (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Technology, Built Environment) and Engr. Nur Amira (Acting Head of Programmes, Mechanical and Mechatronic

Engineering Dept.) to deliver Technical Talks to its engineering students on 18th June 2014.

This event was sponsored by the IET Manufacturing Technical and Professional Network.

UCSI University is a private university and since its inception in 1986 it has now over 10,000 students

from 80 different countries with three campuses located in Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Sarawak (East Malaysia).

The Technical Talks were entitled," Machine Automation and Manufacturing Engineering",

and " Electrical and Electronic Product Development Principles and Technology".

His talks relate to Product development methodologies, rapid prototyping, machine automation and manufacturing engineering principles in response to increasingly ever demanding market force for a highly profitable product.

Global market driven by technologies has not only becoming more complex interactions with stakeholders but

also due to exceptional high expectation from product developers.

He gave an insight on what impacts to technologies when product complexity increases and competitiveness in

product design and development in the manufacturing industries. In order for manufacturing technologists to

compete with world markets, rapidly changing advanced manufacturing technologies are developed to meet

faster throughput and to surpass the new product mass production criteria and quality output.

There were inquiries with enthusiasm from UCSI University lecturers, Dr. John Tan Teng Hwang and Engr. Albert Fong Yu Chooi on having more IET programmes for engineering students.

Further to the technical talks sessions, a brief meeting was arranged for Lim Yew Kee to meet up with

Ir. Associate Professor Dr. Rodney Tan on engineering projects undertaken by the student project teams

in UCSI University.
