Hopefully over the years you will have been to some IET events in Northumbria and Durham. These events are only possible due to the hard work of dedicated volunteers – but now we really need your help.

If you are a retired engineer or technician, have you thought about volunteering for the Local Network in Northumbria and Durham? Here are just some reasons why we think you should.

Being a volunteer for a Local Network can be a great way of:

  • networking with likeminded people in your industry;

  • finding out more about all of the opportunities that the IET can bring;

  • developing the skills needed to achieve your goals

 We are looking for retired members and welcome applications to help with

  • Developing the networks annual strategy

  • Engaging in physical and virtual executive team meetings

  • Using your professional network of contacts to arrange activities, to engage with engineering and technology professionals

  • Contributing content via MyCommunity, the IET’s professional networking and collaboration platform and the new online home for networks

  • Working with other professional institutions to deliver technical activities to engineering and technology professionals

Don’t worry if you have never volunteered before, we have a number of experienced members who would be happy to show you around and ensure you receive training.

We look forward to hearing from you.
