Wow, you may say - that's a very personal question. To be honest I'm not interested in how many pairs of underwear you have, or which dress is your favourite...

What I am interested in is whether you have any wearable technology in your wardrobe.

You may be asking what is wearable technology? According to Wikipedia it's "smart electronic devices (electronic device with microcontrollers) that can be worn on the body as implants or accessories". So everyday examples are items like FitBits, Apple Watches and SnapChat Spectacles.cool

The market for wearable tech only seems to be getting bigger. According to an article in Forbes last year:

1. The wearables market exceeded $2 billion in 2015, will hit almost 3 billion this year and over 4 billion in 2017.

2. Just under 50 million wearable devices were shipped in in 2015 and over 125 million units are expected to ship in 2019

3. Employees equipped with wearable technology reported a 8.5% increase in productivity and a 3.5% increase in job satisfaction.

4. One in six consumers currently own and use wearable tech.

5. Most people who use wearable tech are young; 48% are between 18 and 34.

So it seems like a subject within engineering and technology that deserves it's own event. So....

The IET Young Professionals Committee have organised a set of talks on the convergence between fashion and wearable tech. We are really pleased that Marija Butkovic of Women of Wearables and Francesca Rosella, Co-founder of CuteCircuit will be giving talks on this interesting area. It's in IET London: Savoy Place on 22 November 2017 and we would love you to be there. It will be an informal event that is open to everyone - whether you are a working engineer or just interested in this subject.

Please watch the film below to understand more about the event:

Tickets are available from the TechStyle website.

Oh and if you can't make the event but want to show off your favourite wearable tech, please post your photo of the item (preferably whilst you are wearing it) to Twitter or Facebook using the #ILoveWearableTech. You could win a pair of these:
