
Visit to Railway Technology Centre in Derby which provided an excellent opportunity to view some of the projects they were undertaking
Thameslink – achieving Metro Headways on the Mainline – Paul Bates from Network Rail was the guest speaker for this presentation and gave an excellent insight into the project
The University of Birmingham hosted a visit to their Research Laboratories back in May.
Quiz Night – this event once again proved to be popular and was oversubscribed although the additional team members were squeezed in. The date for the 2015 event has already been finalised – 11 June 2015, once again at Doggetts Coat and Badge.
BIM and the Crossrail Smart Railway – Ross Dentten from Crossrail gave a good oversight on the project and how Building Information Modelling was being applied across the board.
The final event of 2014 was the Early Career Professionals Best Paper Competition which was won by Martin Halligan from TfL. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Intelligent Mobility’ and there were a total of four papers selected for the final competition, including one contestant who travelled from India to participate in the event
On behalf of the Railway TPN I would like to wish you all the best for the Festive Season and New Year and hope that you will continue to give your support to the volunteers who organise the events by coming along to at least one activity in 2015.
