    I'd like to welcome all Aerospace community members to the start of the 2016-17 session which continues under the leadership of David Lindley, Executive Team Chairman and Lee Murton, Young Professionals Group Chairman.   • 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) Of The Institution Of Engineering And Technology (IET) Brunei Darussalam Network

    The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Brunei Darussalam Network held its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Saturday, 1 st November 2016 at Radisson Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan. The AGM received the Chairman’s Report for the Session 2015/2016 and the audited account for the Session 2015/2016 from the Honorary Treasurer.  In the AGM, the Office Bearers, Management Committee Members and Auditors for the term 2016/2017 were elected. The new management committee is comprised of professionals from both the government and private institutions.  Simon Leong Kian Ann from KR Kamarulzaman & Associates has been elected as the Honorary Chairman for the new management committee.  Also elected was Lt.   • Community Manager October Message - New Chairman 2016

    It's that time of the year again, the start of a new session, but before introducing you to our new Chairman for 2016-17, I'd like to take a brief moment to look back at our flagship event that took place in March.  I've already blogged about it so the details have been shared, but as it was such a fantastic event, and happened largely as a result of our past Chairman, Ronaldo,  and our incoming Chairman Ian, (more of whom below), it is worth looking back.   The event, Advanced Manufacturing And Functional Materials , was attended by over 60 people.  We heard from a variety of fascinating speakers, including, Paul Wiper, Keith Robson, Takahiro Hiramatsu, Jing Yang and Chaoying Wan.  Not forgetting, of course, Chairman for the day, the very active local MP, Chris White.  As many will know, Chris…

  • Lecture: Third Amendment to BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations

    On 28th October 2016, the Wales North Local Netwrk hosted a lecture at Coleg Cambria, "Third Ammendment to BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations". The event was in two parts, around forty students in the afternoon and ten members in the evening. Our speakers were Mark Coles and Linden Smith from the IET and in the evening the event ended with a lively Q&A session. Many thanks to Mark and Linden for providing us with a most enjoyable day.

  • Annual Coleg Menai Awards Ceremony

    Once again, the Wales North Local Network was pleased to award the annual prize for "Engineering Excellence" to a student at Coleg Menai. This year, our winner was Nia Povey Jones who was nominated for her achievements in "Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair". We wish Nia all the best in her future endeavors, the event took place at "The Celtic Royal Hotel" in Caernarfon on the 13th September and was attended by around forty students, their families and college staff.

With its timber-framed houses and landmark medieval tower Backnang might give the impression that it slept through the industrial revolution. Welcome to: Prejaas Tewarie , Postdoctoral fellow at Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, School of Physics, University of Nottingham About Prejaas: Prejaas obtained his medical degree at VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam, followed by a PhD in clinical neuroscience. His work during his PhD research was focused on functional brain networks in multiple sclerosis, but also included methodological work on brain network organization in healthy subjects. The empirical brain networks were mainly studied using the neuroimaging techniques: magnetoencephalography (MEG) and (functional) MRI. From what we heard from Andy, the answer is "yes", at least for some applications.
