We are delighted to be working in partnership with Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) and announce the launch of the new DE&S Central Payment Scheme (CPS) with the IET, to acknowledge the level of professional competence of their civil servants and the commitment to their professional development.
DE&S, part of the Ministry of Defence, are a mix of 12,500 talented civil servants and military personnel located across the UK and abroad, delivering a programme of work of over £13bn annually, ensuring the UK Armed Forces have all the equipment and support they need for their operations.
We spoke to Fayth Stone IEng MIET, Professional II Engineer at DE&S, on her journey so far: “As an engineer I’m always looking for new ways to develop myself both personally and professionally, and one of the many benefits of IET membership is the vast range of ways that we can achieve learning and development”.
The Central Payment Scheme enables both new and existing IET members to have their membership and Professional Registration fees paid for directly by their employer. This gives the DE&S civil servants access to a wealth of membership benefits, including:
- mentoring and one-to-one support to work towards Professional Registration
- free and discounted training and events, including local and technical networks
- networking and knowledge-sharing with our global community of engineers and technicians
- the latest news in engineering and technology from E+T magazine
“For me, Professional Registration and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) are extremely important,” Fayth shared with us. “Both are key elements of me progressing my career and achieving my engineering functional objectives, but also they allow me to develop and demonstrate my engineering competency”.
We are excited to continue working in partnership with DE&S to provide learning and development opportunities to their civil servants throughout each stage of their career and recognise their professional competencies.
