CEng Registration

Dear All,

I am applying CEng Registration and I need clarification on the following issues

(1) I can't find a PRA from my designated area, is it ok if I approach one from another region?

(2) I have and B.Eng. and two MSc. degrees-How do I know my school is accredited, is there a list for accredited institutions?
(3) I have a number of publication in my Company’s monthly bulletin-Does this count as part of published documents or it has to be in a recognized Engineering journal?
(4) How do I use the Career manager to generate a development action plan? I have circled round this severally without headway
(5) How do I generate an Assessment Summary Report? Is there a link to this or do I have to write by myself?

    Yes, that's fine.

    (2) I have and B.Eng. and two MSc. degrees-How do I know my school is accredited, is there a list for accredited institutions?
    https://www.engc.org.uk/education-skills/course-search/

But read the other recent threads on this topic in this forum - with those qualifications (assuming they are from reputable universities) it won't matter much if the course is accredited or not, it shouldn't cause any problems in your application. Note that it is the course that is accredited, not the college.

    (3) I have a number of publication in my Company’s monthly bulletin-Does this count as part of published documents or it has to be in a recognized Engineering journal?

This is where you need to talk to a PRA! Usually publications are not an important part of your application - most applicants I see do not have any publications at all - but it depends on your particular application. It's only part of showing that you understand your subject and you know how to communicate it.

    (4) How do I use the Career manager to generate a development action plan? I have circled round this severally without headway

I can't work this out either. You may decide just to write a DAP outside Career Manager, you don't have to use it. Maybe someone else here can explain how this works...I can see how to get CPD planning activities into Career Manager but I can't see how to get them out again!

    (5) How do I generate an Assessment Summary Report? Is there a link to this or do I have to write by myself?

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about this. Most assessors I know don't look at this - they want to do their own assessment of you. You'll see in the notes to the application (the 'i' box again Assessment Summary Report) that it is optional. But if you do want to do it, it is on the "Begin you professional registration journey" link in Career Manager.

Main advice - find a PRA somewhere, because they can discuss your particular application.

    Thanks,

    Andy
