CEng Registration

Dear All,

I am applying CEng Registration and I need clarification on the following issues

(1) I can't find a PRA from my designated area, is it ok if I approach one from another region?

(2) I have and B.Eng. and two MSc. degrees-How do I know my school is accredited, is there a list for accredited institutions?
(3) I have a number of publication in my Company’s monthly bulletin-Does this count as part of published documents or it has to be in a recognized Engineering journal?
(4) How do I use the Career manager to generate a development action plan? I have circled round this severally without headway
(5) How do I generate an Assessment Summary Report? Is there a link to this or do I have to write by myself?

    Hi Solomon,

As Andy says it is possible in CM to create a CPD plan but I am assuming you are wanting something more than that.

The various Career Manager (CM) guides available on the website explaining how to use CM were all superseded last October when the new version of CM was released, and while the IET are preparing replacement guides, these are not yet available. I emailed the CM team at the IET asking how to do something related to this (issue a guest ticket to a mentor for review of CPD plans and reports - the bit that Andy can't work out) and received prompt and clear guidance almost by return, so if you or Andy want I can forward the guidance - just let me know. You could also contact the CM team directly, as there are links for contacting them on the CM page.

If you want to do more than just plan CPD then I would suggest something outside CM may be optimum, of possibly a hybrid, with CPD planned within CM but longer term goals identified externally and a link/reference to CM. My personal opinion is it doesn't matter what form the DAP is in provided you are comfortable with it and it does what it is meant to in planning your career objectives over the short to medium term (and it is in a form that can be shown to the assessors/interviewers).
