Delays in PRI dates

Hi IET Team,

I recently reached out to the Profreg team to clarify the exact dates of my PRI. However, I received a generic email and some documentation which are available on the website, which I really appreciate as a helpful resource.

However, I am specifically hoping to receive a response tailored to my query about the exact date of my PRI. I understand that each application is unique, taking into account an individual’s skills and experience, so I thought it might require a more personalised update.

If there’s any direct information available on the timing of my PRI, I would be incredibly grateful to receive it as soon as possible.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers and staff at IET for your dedication to supporting us in reaching our professional goals

Kind regards.

  • I am in a similar boat I applied to CEng in April and have been waiting for interview a while. I have chased a few times and the team have been really promptly replying. Initially I was told August was fully booked but interviews were being booked for September and October. I didn't hear anything so chased again in October and was told interviews are being booked for November and early December. Although we are in December now and not heard any updates. Really hoping to hear soon.  I feel bad keep chasing but I'm worried I will ask again and then be told that interviews are being booked January and February. My manager keeps asking for updates as I will limit my work travel when it gets near the interview dates but it's hard to plan as I am unsure!

  • This is not what I want to read when I’ve just  submitting for CEng. Such delays can affect people I’m neurodivergent and such long period are not great.

  • Hi Ayoola,

I've passed your concerns to the Professional Registration team who are looking into your query. The team is currently under a lot of pressure, but they are doing their best to provide personalised updates as quickly as possible. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

  • Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for responding and I'd be grateful if you could do the same for my application.

  • It is frustrating to applicants, what I would suggest to all applicants is that although there isn't much you can do to speed up the process for your own application, you can help future applicants: when you receive your award PLEASE consider volunteering as a registration assessor / interviewer yourself. And / or try to persuade your supporters / managers / colleagues to do so as well. Unfortunately the IET is totally dependant on volunteers coming forward for these roles - without volunteers there aren't enough people to assess / interview and the process takes longer.

    Turn that frustration into energy!

  • Apologies Spencer, I should have said I've also passed your concerns to the team.

  • Andy, I would more than happy to become an interviewer, (when successful) great for my own Cpd but also the STEM support we as an engineering are trying to grow.  I’m also kind to work with my organisation to see if we can create an interviewing hub.

  • Brilliant!

  • Completely agree and I understand the situation. I am an assessor for CIWEM chartership and plan to do the same for IET if I get approved for CEng.

  • Dear Mr Louis

Thank you for your message, I shall contact directly regarding the arrangements of your PRI which has only recently been passed to interview Stage.  The team are currently sourcing suitable volunteers with expertise in your discipline. (Surveying and structural).

    Kind regards
