FEANI Eur Ing

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone can advice me on the application for Eur Ing.

I am in the process of applying CEng, currently waiting for the stage 4 result. My UG degree was a BEng(Hons) 3 years degree (2001) but I top it up with a MSc degree in 2003. However my MSc degree was accredted by the IET for further learning in 2005.

My question is: -

1) FEANI's regulation requires that the applicants with "unaccredited" degree must have at least 15 years experience. It is counted from the first year we study our BEng or after we complete our MSc?

2) Do i fall into this cateogry? (15 years working experience).

Advice from experts is much appreciated.

I am no expert on the issue - but I believe that anyone who has CEng can utilise Eur Ing - which are both protected titles.

  • Hi Johan,

No i have not getting any response from them. Anyway, I know Katy, I worked with her together when she was in the IET in the Communitty Engagement Project which lead the creation of this platform MyCommunity. I shall contact her on this, many thanks for the info!

    Cheers!
  • Hi C.F.,

I'm sorry for not replying earlier, this thread has just been brought to my attention.  I can see that Johan has suggested that Lisa and I would be able to help you, however our area of expertise is communities and we have very little experience of professional registration once you get into detailed advice and information.

Jane Black is the professional registration contact in the staff team and if you look at this page on the website you can find your International Professional Registration Advisor in Maylaysia.

    I hope this helps.

  • Many thanks Fiona, no worries. I believe Katy Turff who now working in the Engineering Council might be able to provide me more personalised advice based on my situation. Cheers!

    Dear CF

Thank you for your enquiry regarding FEANI which has been passed to me to respond.

In answer to your query -

Special Case applications require a demonstration of a minimum 15 years

    professional engineering experience; those with Cognate qualifications 8 years minimum;

and those with qualifications gained outside FEANI countries, 4 years minimum. Experience

must be gained post-completion of education.

    Hope this helps

If you need any further information please feel free to contact me.

    Kind Regard

I was wondering in another IET forum how Brexit would affect the status of the EurIng title.

    Eventually, I found this:

    www.engc.org.uk/.../

    which seems to provide reassurance.

With BREXIT and the need for recognition of Incorporated Engineers

    or Professional engineers,

I have asked the same quesstion directly to ECUK, I await a prompt reply.

IEng PEs, Professional Engineers, with HNC and university Third Year - Licence or BA or BSc, all  with  professional experience, need recognition in Europe.

CEng is not Eur Ing by definition.

The ECUK will explain this anomaly.

I call on IET to lobby to gain true respect for the PE who meets the European status of registered engineer.

As IET is now run by CEng with BSc I do not expect much suport from IET.

IET was ment to be :

A group who promote science, engineering and technology, encourage people to enter the profession and provide opportunities to share and develop knowledge and network.

    For all grades and Genders.
