ARE CENG AND IENG EQUAL IN STATUS

Can we say that the CEng and IEng be considered equal titles in professional status or IEng is inferior than CEng.

As the Application Form for both CEng and IEng is same.

EngTech is targetted at a very different cohort - the Engineering Technician.

Technicians are an essential part of an engineering team, and as my technicians joke, they have to work for their living!

Yes, totally agree, the IEng / EngTech seperation is really useful. I don't see how you could merge them.

Been trained to do a job, and do it well = EngTech

Learned how to do a new job, and have to keep finding out how to do a new job every day = IEng

Invented a whole new job = CEng

Where UK Spec differs from those definitions then UK Spec takes precedence

master students in France, they carry out a professional project.
Three master students would do half the work of a PE. They are
assessed by their university professors after they have written a
monograph on their project work. They are well paid for their work
which is part of the department’s overall project. I think this is
acceptable for higher grade recognition. They will have an
engineering diploma Grande Ecole for life.

If IEng write monographs
on their projects which will be six times more important than a
Master project, they will be reviewed by an academic authority and
eligible for CENG ECUK.

rejected.

Who are the Peers? What
qualifications do they have to review someone from a different
domain of engineering?

would cause another Chernobyl. Electrical generation is not nuclear

you study, train and pass examinations, and then you are certified
as an engineer.

In the UK if you have
IEng registration, at under 30, then you change direction, take 5
years degree studies, in another engineering domain, then undertake

work and equal pay, you find that you are blocked.

If you sponsors are Nobel
Laureates, Heads of foreign R&D centres, leading international

in the 1980’s about corruption in the UKAEA and the Fusion project,
only Free Masons were recruited, there must be a reference in the
British library, it was sold out in Oxford.

PEI, ECUK registration is
as well thought out as BREXIT, hot air and nothing to follow, just
a deflated future.

CEng is a ‘UK class’
superiority grade not an engineering qualification, it needs to be
revised.

CEng equals FEANI Eur
Ing, equals I Eng what logic! This must change with BREXIT , I Eng
is FEANI Eur Ing by definition, tough on UK CEng!

Get to work; start
recognising the I Eng and BSc PEs who are the future of engineering
and technology.

Good luck to Technicians
that join IET, and to Technicians that study to gain IEng
status.

For the IEng that meet
CEng status, start fighting for your rights. You do not need Peers;
the CEO ECUK has clearly stated this. You must use the IET rules,
get yourselves on the committees, Council and
Board.

Here’s the catch 22, you are so
busy, as I was, studying, working and commuting that you do not
even have time for your family, let alone your learned society.
That is why retired electrical CEng take over and ruin this
fabulous PEI, that should be scientific, technology and engineering
for all grades and genders.

Not a ticket club for
CEng jobs.

Moshe, you have CEng as
the UK does not have anything better to offer.

In the UK, in certain
establishment organisations, you could not work with your
qualifications and experience alone. You would need friends and
sponsors. Is this a fair way to treat our children, just because we
were treated this badly?

I have had more than
enough of UK CEng corruption and biases, I think I will write a
book about it. change must come. Or the Book; it was written
in the 1980’s about corruption in the UKAEA and the Fusion project,
only Free Masons were recruited, there must be a reference in the
British library, it was sold out in Oxford.

IET Members should start
stating what they want, need and expect from their learned society.

of registration grades should therefore consider the replacement of the present three grades with two, namely “Chartered Engineer” and “Registered Engineer”. In addition the institutions should review their internal membership grades and consider the introduction of a new grade of engineering members, to be known as “Engineers” and intended to be available in particular to new members who have had no previous connection with the PEIs and who are engaged in signi cant engineering work.

If I compare to Germany, the tchniciansthere are called State-certified technicians and it takes 3.5 years of apprenticeship, 2 years of technical school and taking

the State certified examinations.

In Germany technicians are on level 6 of the GQF. They are compared to Technologist or even I.Eng at times.

In many other countries Technicians are more of on the level 3 or 4 in their qualifications frameworks.

In UK in my opinion there is great system of NQF the Award, Certificate and Diploma level vocation education and training.

I seen programs of NQF level 2 or 3 they are impressive and really prepare a person for Technician role.

If you look at Airman in Royal AF their initial aprentiantship and training leads to NQF2 and Advanced training to NQF 3.
specialist standards, allowing to undertake Further Training on a 14 month long technician training course. One will also be enrolled on an Advanced Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering. On successful completion of this part of their specialist training one will be qualified as an Aircraft Technicians (Mechanical). One will be enrolled on an NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering where on successful completion of the NVQ portfolio, one will have completed all elements of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Aeronautical Engineering.

That is very comprehensive program.
The NVQs and Apprenticeships that one can earn are as valuable in the civilian world as they are in the RAF. Furthermore, as an aircraft engineer in the RAF, the skills and qualifications one will have gained will place them in good stead for a wide range of employment fields when they leave the RAF.

What I like in education providers such as universities or institutes etc, is the ability to have entry point and exit point.

So if an EngTech completed qualification of NQF level 4 or one year university, institute or City and Guilds, or HNC etc in technical studies they can enter in to 2nd year of degree program, and HND usually can enter in to final year of BEng program or do additional year if the BScEE program is a 4 year in duration.
