Well, today is my 1st time to Savoy Place and I must say, I am very impressed. Was not expecting a 'bus station' waiting room but at the same time, was not sure what to expect. Well done IET smiley

  • There was a debate on another thread which was veering over to the old argument of whether IET membership is value for money. And it did make me think that if I had to justify it to myself then, just at the moment, for me personally, somewhere between 25%-50% of the IET membership cost is worth it for the Faraday centre at Savoy Place alone. People have in the past said "it's only for Londoners", so I thought it worth mentioning here that I find it more useful as a non-Londoner who regularly has to visit clients in London. Having free work space available in a central London location which I can use without notice is fantastic.

I'll be perfectly honest and admit that 3-4 years ago I wouldn't have expected to be saying that!

Of course I appreciate that many members don't need those benefits, but as Roy and Lisa say, it doesn't cost us anything. (Ok, I suppose someone could be really pedantic and argue that if the IET also rented out the Faraday Centre at corporate rates they might be able to reduce our membership by a fraction of a smidgeon, but I think several of us would be a bit upset about that!)

    Cheers,
