  • Note that the DNOs also have their own conditions, which are  similar to each other but do vary a bit between locations, depending on the make up of the local infrastructure,  and as they can refuse to connect, it is as well to check what rules apply  in each area in advance.
western power's for example  has a 3.6m spacing requirement from underground metal connected to other earthed systems, for single phase chargers, but not 3 phase ones.

The customers buried TT earthing system shall be segregated from the WPD buried earthing system (including buried LV metalwork and traditional Paper Insulated Lead Covered cables) by the required distance

Single Phase or Unbalanced 3 Phase Connection 3.6m

    Balanced Three Phase Connection 0.3m

6.5 The Electric Vehicle Charging Point (whole installation) shall be segregated (above ground) from metalwork connected to PME or SNE earthing systems by at least 2.5m e.g. metallic street lights and steel frame buildings.

and does not recommend being adjacent to other supplies.Quite how you achieve all this as well as the recommendations of the COP can become a sore point in crowded town centres.
