A Bloke talks about E.V. charging and main fuse blowing.

Interesting.

  • Load management seems like a good idea,

Less sure about that company fuse on a wobble board...

  • I'm wondering why this has been moved from Wiring and the Regulations, as it's directly related to the application of load curtailment, Regulation 722.311.201 in BS 7671 ?
  • I can see load management as a way to make a 7.2kW charger viable for those of us still on 60A supplies.  Otherwise I could be stuck with a 3.6kW charger when it comes to installing one.

the pod-point charger i have has "auto power balancing" as standard - basically, an inductive clamp on the main supply to the house so the charger can tell the car to lower its charge current if the demand from the rest of the house is too high. I suspect they also spy on my home energy usage and sell the data to someone..
