Ukraine Electricity Cost.

My strawberry seller told me how much he pays for electricity per unit in his home country the Ukraine.

Do you think that it is:

a, Free of charge,

b, 10p per unit.

c, 55p per unit,

d, 27.3p per unit?

Z.

  • Used to be around 4 pence per unit, but monthly wages aren’t very high.

  • I would estimate 10 pence a unit IF METERED.

Might well be free, or at least included in the rent or service charge in some cases. Such un metered supplies are often limited to 10 amps or less.

  • The answer is “b” or less than “b”. He said that most people use electricity for everything as gas is more expensive.

  • This document suggests Ukraine gets a significant fraction of its electricity from (Russian designed) nuclear plants, and burns quite a lot of coal and gas. That data may be a bit out of date, but as a transit country for Russian gas going to Europe, I presume to tap a bit off for a power station still makes sense.
