E3 Competence question for CEng

Hi,

I am close to applying for CEng, but I am struggling for evidence in the E3 competence. Is it only environmental sustainability or does social sustainability count? I ask because I have worked with local schools to raise the profile of engineering, hopefully leading to a few more people going into engineering in future. Would this work come under E3 and count towards it?

Would car sharing to work count or any other activities I undertake to reduce my carbon footprint?

Regards

  • Hi Brian,

    Thanks for your comments.

In the aircraft industry, any engineering activities designed to improve fuel efficiency may have a positive environmental impact and contribute to sustainable development.

I'm not sure if you are a member of the IET Aerospace network, but they have an event next week on material scarcity which will cover some of these topics in more detail.

I would be interested to see what thoughts other people have in this area.

    Regards,
