Could you benefit from recieving training in soft-skill?

Would you agree with this statement?  If so, would you benefit from your organisation running soft-skills courses such as; leadership, communication, confidence, assertiveness and negotiation?

    I'm retired now and only occasionally lurk here. How sad that this post has been on here for over two months without reply.



    I agree with the conclusion but not the premise. Engineers have always needed these skills but were generally not taught them. It was the lack of these skills which generally consigned engineers to the 'back room' to be used as a means to an end by the management.



    Only those engineers who had already gained these skills from school or a mentor (if they were lucky enough to get one) could progress into positions of real influence. I succeeded in getting this training only late in my career when it had stagnated, but the difference was palpable even then.



    So yes, the sooner the better.
