What are you doing at work this week?

Are you:

  • attending an event or exhibition?

  • researching on the internet?

  • mentoring someone?

  • undertaking a volunteering activity?

  • attending a training course?

  • job shadowing?

  • reading a technical article or book?

  • studying towards an academic qualification?

  • starting a new role?

Then you’re gaining new knowledge and doing things which can contribute to your CPD!  Why not keep a simple record of how many hours you spend on these kinds of things and you’ll be surprised how quickly you reach 30 hours – better still, why not get ready to record these simply in the new Career Manager due for launch at the end of June?

Have you seen our new CPD Monitoring Scheme on our website?

We’ve already had our first few members opt-in to the scheme. Will you be joining? What do you think of the scheme?
  • I hope the website access/login bugs have been firmly put to bed, otherwise they will strangle this idea at birth. We are all pushed for time, and as worthy an idea as this is, it needs to be quick and easy to do.

    1. Undertaking voluteering (PRA-ing);

    2. Developing the Crow-AMSAA model for renewal efficacy growth;

    3. Going to the opticians for a new pair of specs!

    4. Researching the estimation of probability of rare events;

    5. Carry over to next week, the need for a damn good desk tidy;

  • I'm with you David on the desk tidy, mine is completely buried by Friday!

    This week it's reading articles for me, increasingly online via recommendations in LinkedIn and via MyCommunity. However, last week I attended a conference, shared the learning with colleagues who couldn't attend, completed some training and coached some new staff members.

    It's only when you stop to think about it that you realise quite how much CPD gets done in the course of a 'normal' day...!

  • Writing a Project Requirements Specification and managing it in DOORS.

    I clean my desk every day before I leave out of respect for the cleaners...

    It’s great to hear about the things you are doing that can contribute towards your CPD – please keep them coming!

    Will you be embracing the new Career Manager (due next month) to record your CPD?

    An additional benefit of recording your CPD online is that it will help towards the tidy desk efforts! smiley

    Hi Harriet,

    The go live date for the new version of Career Manager is planned for the end of June. A plan is in place to enable migration of your records into the new system starting on 28 May 2013. The full details of this plan will be emailed to all users of the Career Manager system shortly.

    Kind regards

    Caroline
