  • He mentions by next Autumn we'll start to feel the harsh realities of the UK's energy policy.

As Putin starts to squeeze the gas supply, it's the inevitable.

  • The message from Carrie Johnson is "Eat or freeze".

  • Time to stock up on log burners and candles. Dump your mobiles and stick with your landlines.

No juice to charge anything when your smart meter Demand auto-shut-off is enacted.

  • I already have a log burner, and logs for two years.

    And a few thousand candles.

And oil lamps with a few hundred liters of oil, and battery lanterns with 100 D cells.

Also a UPS for essential loads [some lighting, internet router, fridge, cordless phone base unit] Run time many hours.

And long underwear and warm blankets.

A very much doubt that prolonged power cuts will result from lack of generating capacity, but do consider that rota cuts at times of high demand are possible, for no more than three hours at a time. Plenty of opportunity to charge things overnight when the load is less.

A prolonged power cut could result from extreme weather, as occurred recently in the north east, one should be prepared for such events.

Everyone should be prepared for relatively short rota power cuts as occurred in the 1970s AND for the odd long term cut of 3 weeks in remote areas, or 3 days in urban areas.
