No neutral in Panel board for 3phase pumps that do not require a neutral

Hi all, on a recent EICR I have discovered a Panel board with no neutral but it is labelled for 3phase pumps only that do not require a neutral what are your thoughts on this matter?

  • On the face of it I don't see a problem. In general there's no need to run a N conductor if there's nothing to connect it to - that's why they manufacture 3-core (brown/black/grey) +c.p.c. cables.

  • This was my initial thought, just wondering if there is anything against running a sub mains with no neutral , thank you for the reply

  • A 3-phase 4-wire system can be used to supply a 3-phase 3-wire portion of the installation.

It's purely a "nature of supply" issue.

There is no requirement to distribute a neutral in a three-phase 3-wire system that is earthed at the star point (neutral) of the source.
